Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)

Electric discharge machining (EDM), sometimes also referred to as spark machining, spark eroding ,die sinking or wire erosion, is a manufacturing process whereby a desired shape is obtained using electrical discharges.  Material is removed from the work piece by a series of rapidly recurring current discharges between two electrodes, separated by a dielectric liquid and subject to an electric voltage.

Knust-Godwin is capable of producing tailored geometries on the ID or internals of components using our highly specialized EDM machines at essentially any depth within the tool, with precision accuracy. Knust-Godwin offers CNC plunge and wire EDM to succeed where conventional machining is not practical or possible. Our experienced operators, state of the art equipment and stringent process controls bring your product to completion with the highest quality.
